How I Created an Agent to Make RevOps Smarter (and Save My Sanity)
RevOps has always been my world, but let’s be honest—working in revenue operations means constantly swimming through oceans of data, metrics, and insights just to keep the team on track. Add to that the endless stream of industry content, newsletters, and best-practice advice bombarding my inbox daily, and it feels like I need an assistant just to keep up with the latest RevOps trends. This struggle to manage data, insights, and information overload led me to the idea of creating RevOps Genie—my very own AI-powered sidekick to help me cut through the noise.
Here’s how it all started, why I named it “Genie,” and what it’s like to finally have some of the best RevOps advice at my fingertips.
The Lightbulb Moment
For years, I was spending a chunk of every week piecing together insights and digging up relevant content to inform (and potentially validate) my decision making. I wanted to focus on strategy, but instead, I was trapped in the weeds, trying to stay on top of best practices and keeping up with the latest trends and tools, so I signed up for every relevant newsletter, blog, and RevOps podcast you can imagine.
It was all useful—gold mines of insights—but it was too much to process and organize (on top of my day job). So, naturally, I started thinkiing of ways to automate this (ie. dreaming of a “genie” to grant my wishes and serve up relevant content/advice when i need it and not have it be super generic).
Why "RevOps Genie"?
“Genie” just felt right. I wanted something that sounded helpful and magical, because that’s what I desperately needed—a tool that could help shape my thinking effortlessly. Plus, I liked the idea of having an “intelligent assistant” that was on call whenever I needed a specific reminder of a best practice I’d read about months ago. And hey, if it’s going to magically save me time and headache, it might as well have a magical name.
Designing the Genie I Wished I’d Had All Along
With my vision clear, I started thinking about all the ways RevOps Genie could make my life easier and add real value to my team. Here’s what I wanted it to do from day one:
Save All the “Good Stuff” from Content I Consume: I wanted to feed all the gems from newsletters, articles, and podcasts straight into the Genie. This way, instead of getting buried in an email folder or lost in Evernote, they’d be in a place where I could actually reference and act on them.
What’s Next for RevOps Genie?
RevOps Genie has been a huge help, but there’s always room for improvement. I’m working on building a metric library so it can help analyze potential pipeline issues or forecast shortfalls before they happen.
Sometimes all it takes is a spark (or a “genie”) to transform the way you work. Here’s to RevOps Genie—and finally having a little magic in revenue operations.
